Demonstrators lit a fire on the road leading to the Mainvilliers waste incinerator, located near Chartres, to show their dissatisfaction following the government’s desire to force through its pension reform with the use of 49.3 by the Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.
“It’s to mark the occasion against a government that does not listen to the people, says Fernand Carre, CGT union leader for the Chartres railway workers. We also want to raise awareness among the garbage collectors. Here, they have no special regime and will retire at age 64.

Demonstrators from the CGT, Solidaires, France Insoumise and the French Communist Party (PCF) were also present.
According to the authorities, eight trucks were blocked, unable to go on their rounds of garbage collection. Five others were already on tour, and should be blocked when they return.
“Other blockades and demonstrations are planned in the department”, according to Fernand Carre. But the trade unionist wanted not to reveal what was planned.
