Maintenance Work on A89 Tunnels: Closure and Detour Information

The A89 will be closed between July 17 and July 20 to allow maintenance work in three tunnels. Traffic will therefore be cut from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning. Detour routes will be set up, Vinci Autoroute announcement.

As every year, the company carries out maintenance work to check the security system. These operations include checking and replacing the lighting, video system, signage and ventilation equipment.

The A89 closed between Balbigny and Tarare

The operations planned for the night of Monday July 17, 2023 to Tuesday July 18, 2023 will take place in the tunnels towards Lyon. The A89 motorway will then be closed in this direction only, between the Balbigny (n°33) and Tarare-est (n°35) interchanges.

From Tuesday July 18 to Wednesday July 19, and from Thursday July 20 to Friday July 21, the work will be carried out in the opposite direction of traffic, towards Clermont-Ferrand and Saint-Etienne. The closure of the A89 will therefore be effective between the Tarare-est and Balbigny interchanges.

Finally, work planned for the night of Wednesday July 19, 2023 to Thursday July 20, 2023 will concern the 3 tunnels (Violay, Buissière and Chalosset) and will require the closure of the A89 motorway between Balbigny and Tarare-est, in both directions from traffic.
