GINE, 1 (EUROPE PRESS)
The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation has begun maintenance, conservation and improvement work on the Lloreda stream, in La Pontica, and on the Piles river, in the vicinity of the river path.
Likewise, the works on the Pinzales and Aboo rivers, in Somonte and Veria, are considered completed, according to a press release from the Confederation.
These works are part of the agreement signed with the Gijn City Council for the development of riverbed conservation and maintenance actions in the municipal area, which contemplates an investment of 1,520,000 euros over the next four years. Since the performances began on August 1, 463,348.66 euros have been invested.
The work in the Lloreda stream is carried out in a section of about 375 meters, which runs along the perimeter walls of several single-family homes. The action in the Piles is planned in a section of about 2000 m at the height of the river path.
The main objective of these tasks is to recover the drainage section of the channel. To this end, the vegetation on the margins has been adapted, and accumulations of dead plant material have been removed as plugs and dry trees or at risk of falling onto the public domain.
All these actions complement the work carried out in 2022 in the rural area of the riverbeds of the municipality of Gijn before the signing of the agreement, where 167,492.66 euros were invested.
