If he recognizes that the recent defeat against Metz hurt the locker room of Amiens SC, Doums Fofana wants to continue to believe in the rise before going to challenge Paris FC. And to reconnect with victory, the midfielder is ready to suffer and even not look good against one of the Picard club’s pet peeves. Interview.
Doums, how do you explain the current bad series of Amiens SC (note: two wins in eleven matches) despite a rather interesting content?
I don’t know. We always manage to start our matches well, delivering a first half where we manage to master our subject rather well. Generally, we miss to conclude with a first goal or a second to kill the opponent. Then we cash in behind and we get back up or we find ourselves chasing after the score. It’s frustrating. When we see our matches, what we do, what we put inside, we say to ourselves each time that we deserve more. Unfortunately, it often ends in a draw or a defeat.
Does this cause a little despondency in the locker room or even a feeling of helplessness?
No, it’s not impotence. We just tell ourselves that we have to look even further. Do more and we know we are capable of doing it.
So Amiens SC is not reaching its limits?
No, I do not think so. If we make an observation on our matches since the start of the season, we can see a very big evolution. It really only comes down to small details. We have the chances, we just have to conclude, we know that it will go through us.
The championship is not over, there are more than fifteen matches left, we must move forward. We always believe in the ascent.
What is the best thing you can do to get out of this bad results spiral?
Score on our highlights, kill the game when we can. We must also avoid doing so many gifts to the opponent on the defensive level. When you don’t score, you have to know not to cash in. However, lately, we have been leaving avoidable stupid goals and that weighs us down a bit. If we have to make shitty matches (sic) and win 1-0, I think everyone signs. You have to manage to switch to that, win hard-fought matches to regain confidence.
Doesn’t this defeat against Metz represent a break in the plan to climb?
No, we are still at six points. We came back to where we were before winning against Niort. We lost against a direct competitor, it’s a bit frustrating. Now the championship is not over, there are more than fifteen matches left, we have to move forward. We always believe in the ascent. In our position, we no longer look too much down. There are only bonuses and good emotions to get.
Six points is a lot and a lot at the same time. Aren’t you a little back to the wall all the same?
In our situation, we must not leave too many points to those in front of us and succeed in getting as many as possible, not giving up. The match at Paris FC should allow us to maintain hope and start a series. It’s been a long time since we did a series, it would be nice to find that again.
