‘Mainstream’ folding smartphones? It’s Samsung’s Promise

Samsung has just released its account report for the second quarter of the year, showing a 20% increase in revenue, while operating profitability increased about 54% in the mobile division, even taking into account the lack of chips plaguing the industry.

These are phenomenal results, resulting in fantastic numbers like 55.56 billion in revenue, within which 10.97 billion is profit. Interestingly, while presenting these numbers that obviously pleased investors, Samsung decided to make a promise… The next big bet is on folding! This type of device will go mainstream, and of course the South Korean giant has every intention of dominating this market.

Therefore, with these results, Samsung was at ease to say that the main goal for the end of the year is to solidify its presence in the premium smartphone segment. How? With a big bet on folding smartphones!

Something that is obviously a ‘tip’ for what’s coming next August 11th. Time when Samsung will present its new devices in the form of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. After all, truth be told, Samsung has not yet been able to convince the market 100% with its folding devices. But this could really change in 2021.

Apparently, while the Z Fold 3 will remain a super premium device, the Z Flip 3 will position itself as a smartphone for the people. With high-end specs, an out-of-the-box design, and of course a ‘decent’ price that makes sense in the big picture.
