Slipping or the first stage of weakness? After a defeat in Paderborn on Friday against U23s Fortuna Düsseldorf, MSV Duisburg wanted to give an answer and get back on the road to success.

Sussek and Fakhro registered the first ways to score for Duisburg in the opening quarter hour. But the Fortuna talents were involved from the start. In the 12th minute, Boller came free to direct the ball, MSV goalkeeper Braune made a strong reaction. Soon after, Hahn made a return pass that was too short, Bunk ran the ball and beat Braune to give Düsseldorf the lead (13th).

MSV tried to correct this damage immediately, but the Fortuna talents were steadfastly protected. A slick cross from Sussek almost had to be used for the equalizer after almost half an hour, but Pawelczyk directed the arc lamp towards the corner in desperate need.

Instead of an equaliser, it was 2-0 for Düsseldorf II In the 38th minute, Wagemann caught a shot, Braune let the ball kick forward and Garlipp sank the goal. The zebras’ pressure period after that was unsuccessful, so the half-time score was 2-0 to the hosts.

Map of traffic lights for Guzy

In the second section, the pendulum was swinging more and more in favor of MSV. In the 54th minute, Guzy Düsseldorf, who had only been substituted at half-time, saw red for knocking the ball down, and almost immediately afterwards Wegkampf headed in from Coskun’s cross to make it 1-2 (55th).

The Meiderichers were now extremely powerful. In the 58th minute, Meuer went over from a few meters, maybe that was it. The Duisburg fans were screaming again for a goal in the 71st minute, but Pawelczyk saved against Wegkamp and shortly afterwards Hahn headed into the net. But almost 180 seconds later, Hahn got his forehead on the ball after a corner and poked the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

A good interim step from Duisburg’s point of view, but nothing more. Hirsch’s team played for victory and made more promising attacks. In the second minute of injury time, most of the 16,292 spectators in the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena went into ecstasy as Fakhro headed the ball into the goal. But referee Kampka’s team was offside, so the goal didn’t count. But Duisburg still had one thing: Coskun Fakhro’s cross found the middle, which went over from a few meters.
