A mainland Chinese official said that more efforts will be made to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and the reunification of China.
Zhang Zhijun, chairman of the Association for Across the Taiwan Strait Relations (ARATS), made the remarks in a New Year’s message published in the first issue of “Across the Taiwan Strait Relations” 2023 magazine.
Noting that the association has upheld the One China principle and the 1992 Consensus over the past year, Zhang said that ARATS has also appropriately handled all kinds of Taiwan-related emergencies.
Better-quality development, higher-level openness, deeper domestic demand and more effective governance on mainland China will strengthen economic cooperation across the Taiwan Strait and lay a stronger foundation, said Zhang, for renewal and reunification of the nation.
The association will fully implement the Communist Party of China’s comprehensive policy to resolve the Taiwan question in the new era and make further contributions to China’s peaceful reunification, Zhang said.
