“Mainfranken’s Export Rate Drops: IHK Cites Economic and Geopolitical Risks as Reason”

The companies in Mainfranken exported less last year than the year before. According to the Würzburg-Schweinfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the rate has fallen by 2.8 percentage points to 41.3 percent.

The district of Kitzingen recorded the largest decline in the region with a minus of 4.2 percentage points. Only the district of Schweinfurt was able to increase its exports slightly, by 0.8 percentage points.

The IHK cites the numerous economic and geopolitical risks as the reason for the predominantly negative development – these include the current high level of inflation and the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

The export rate in the region has developed as follows: City of Schweinfurt: -0.4 percentage points, City of Würzburg: -0.9 percentage points, Main-Spessart district: -1.6 percentage points, Würzburg districts: -2.0 percentage points, Kitzingen district : -4.2 percentage points.
