Wednesday is “Nursing Day” – the ver.di union would like to show politicians the red card with protest campaigns in Main Franconia as well. Also included are the St. Paul home for the elderly in Würzburg, the AWO house for seniors in Marktbreit and the district hospital in Werneck. Photo campaigns take place here from the morning. According to ver.di, there is a shortage of around 100,000 nurses and a further 115,000 nursing staff across Germany. In Bavaria alone, at least 62,000 full-time caregivers will be needed by 2050 to cover the additional needs in elderly care.
Nursing staff is also in short supply in the Würzburg and Main-Rhön regions – this is complemented by a study by the Association of Nurses in Bavaria. She has had the demand examined and sees the security of supply being seriously endangered. The Main-Rhön region has the third highest demand in Bavaria after Munich and the Danube Forest.
There is also criticism of the mandatory testing for completely vaccinated visitors in retirement homes, which continues to apply in Bavaria. According to a federal ordinance, it has actually been valid since Sunday that vaccinated persons and genesis can meet with other people again without restrictions.
