More training places but fewer and fewer trainees – this is a problem that companies in the Franconian region are often confronted with. But now that is set to change – as the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) reports, many companies are now taking new approaches.
This means that many partnerships are currently being entered into with schools. In addition, there is also a renewed focus on internships – this is intended to attract trainees to the company at an early stage.
Lage in Mainfranke compared to the nationwide
At the federal level, an average of two out of eight apprenticeships remained unfilled last year. This is also evident in Mainfranken, but here significantly more apprenticeships were offered overall – namely an average of eleven per company. Of these, an average of three remained unfilled.
According to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, companies in Mainfranken rely on flat hierarchies and modern IT technology in order to attract more trainees.
And more good news for the region: The Chamber of Industry and Commerce expects a stable number of new training contracts this year – which should be similar to last year.
Background
The survey was conducted in May among over 13,000 companies across Germany, including 315 from the region. The survey is intended to demonstrate the need for nationwide measures to recruit young talent.
A good example of this is the “Training Scouts” project, which is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. This provides authentic insights into the training occupations.
