A 22-year-old man was arrested by the gendarmes for having Ombrée-d’Anjou (Maine-et-Loire), last September 13, drives his car dangerously, screeching the tires around a roundabout. A frightened motorist had to back up hastily but was not injured.
When he saw the gendarmes, he allegedly fled in the stolen car he was driving. He was finally arrested at his home, 24 hours later.
Author of the theft of five cars
While in police custody, investigators discovered that he was the author of a series of thefts of five vehicles. Brought before the public prosecutor of Angers, he was tried, this Friday, September 17, according to the appearance procedure on prior recognition of guilt (CRPC) and accepted a prison sentence of 5 months, without imprisonment.
He will have to be presented to a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) who will determine how he will have to execute these five months in prison.
