State services in partnership with the city of Angers, Aquarius Club Angers and the Association des Secouristes Angevins are mobilizing by renewing the organization of a drowning risk prevention day on Saturday July 9, from 14 to 6 p.m. on the Lac de Maine beach in Angers.
Several activities will punctuate the afternoon: educational workshops, introduction to “first aid gestures”, commented demonstrations of “aquatic rescue”, passages of aquatic tests for children, quizzes…
This day will be an opportunity to meet the public to raise awareness of the risks and inform about the right behaviors to adopt.

“A peak of heat multiplies by three the number of drownings”
Every year, in France, drownings claim many victims, whether in swimming pools, seas, lakes or rivers. Santé Publique France, which conducts a survey every 3 years, has identified for the summer of 2021 nearly 1,500 drownings, including 400 fatalities. Nearly half of drownings involve children under 6 and people over 65.
During the summer period of 2021, the Pays de la Loire experienced 78 drownings, including 28 fatalities (8 drownings, including 5 fatalities in Maine-et-Loire).
The 2022 summer season is particularly at risk
estimates the prefecture of Maine-et-Loire. Indeed, a peak of heat multiplies by three the number of drownings, but the weather forecast announces a summer with higher temperatures than normal. Many accidents, including in our department, took place during the June heat wave
