Main stage awards to Naomi Velissariou and Emmanuel Ohene Boafo

Naomi Velissariou and Emmanuel Ohene Boafo have won the two most important prizes in the Dutch theater world, the Louis d’Or and Theo d’Or. The prizes were awarded tonight at the Gala of the Nederlands Theater.

Velissariou receives the prize for most impressive female role for her role in Permanent Destruction: Pain Against Fear, which she produced together with Theater Utrecht. Her performance is described as ‘mindfulness on speed’, in which a musical attempt is made to deal with taboos, pain and uncertainty together with the audience.

“She rises above the concept of the production”, the jury writes about the Belgian-Greek theater maker. “In your mind you can touch her and that is great for a woman who is afraid of life and herself.”
