Main Franconia: Will the 9-euro ticket become a…

Will the 9-euro ticket become a 30-euro monthly ticket? Bernd Rützel, member of the Main-Spessarter Bundestag, has now made this proposal.

The trains and platforms are currently more crowded than they have been for a long time, and the demand for the 9-euro ticket is huge. Reason enough for Bernd Rützel, who is the chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs in the Bundestag, to take stock.

With the introduction of the 9-euro ticket, there is a (temporary) ticket for the first time in Germany that is valid for all regional transport throughout the country.

This is not only practical, but also significantly cheaper for the passengers than the normal ticket prices. The high demand for this offer so far shows that people’s willingness to use public transport depends heavily on the costs.

In a conversation with the new works council chairman of DB Regio, Ralf Damde, Rützel has therefore now proposed the permanent introduction of a nationwide valid 30-euro monthly ticket for regional transport. This could lead to people continuing to switch to public transport even after the three months of the 9-euro ticket.

In addition, the two spoke about the high burden on railway staff caused by the 9-euro ticket. In the short term, the staff urgently need to be relieved, according to Damde. He is also committed to saying thank you to Deutsche Bahn employees, for example by giving them an additional day off or covering the costs of leisure activities.
