No fireworks on New Year’s Eve, at least not at select venues in Mainfranken. The ban applies especially in the vicinity of churches, hospitals and orphanages, retirement homes and half-timbered houses.
There is also an increased risk of fire in historic buildings. In addition to rockets and firecrackers, Chinese lanterns are also banned. These are very light paper lanterns that rise in the air. The Bavarian palace administration and the police ask you to respect the bans.

In Würzburg the prohibition applies in front of the residence and the fortress. The Residenzplatz will be closed on 31 December from 22:00, so the parking space will also no longer be available. The fortress is closed from 21.00, the moat from 17.00. There will also be a no-go zone in the city center in the Domstraße area. Council will provide more details on Thursday.
