More police stations in Favoriten are not the answer to years of neglect in integration
Vienna (OTS) – “The request of the SP district leader for more police stations for favorites is proof of the SPÖ Vienna’s false awareness of the problem. The correct answer to the incidents that took place on New Year’s Eve are not additional posts, but the use of special units such as the WEGA, the standby unit and the task force for street crime. This answer was also given, which the quick arrests and the successful resolution of the turmoil have shown, ”said the security spokesman for the new Vienna People’s Party, Karl Mahrer.
The correct political answer to the constant riots in Favoriten is the search for the causes and their solution and thus the long overdue, consistent integration work. Integration must not only be promoted, but must finally also be demanded. In terms of integration, the City of Vienna has not implemented consistent measures for years. The Neos fell over here in the government negotiations, are not taking any measures and parts of the SPÖ do not want to admit the problem and continue to look the other way. If integration is not demanded, parallel societies and ghettos emerge in the city. More than 70 percent of the students at the new secondary schools in Vienna do not have German as a colloquial language. The result of this development is that young people without adequate integration and education have few opportunities in the job market. As a result, young people are open to radicalization, crime and extremism.
“This is not only a danger for the security of the Viennese, but also for the young people affected. We have to work together to avoid a lost generation with no future prospects. We therefore demand the immediate implementation of sustainable, consistent and targeted integration measures with the involvement of the New People’s Party Vienna as the strongest opposition party ”, concluded Mahrer.
