O Kansas City Chiefs is the new champion of NFL! This Sunday (13), the team surpassed the Philadelphia Eagles by 38 to 35 in Super Bowl LVII in one game and secured the second victory in its history.
The title places Patrick Mahomes, who played for more than half of the game in pain, in the history of the team and also of the league. He threw for three touchdowns and confirmed the year of dreams, in which he was named MVP of the season and also shone in the decision. Jalen Hurts also had a great game, but a mistake in the first half was costly.
The start of the game was an avalanche for the Eagles, who scored the touchdown in the first campaign. The score looked like it would go with Gainwell, but the officiating spotted him down before entering the endzone. And at the one-yard line, Jalen Hurts pushed everyone in front of him to score the TD.
The Chiefs weren’t intimidated and it didn’t take long to get the tie. And with the duo that works the most on the team: Mahomes launched for Travis Kelce to make it 7 to 7. Still in the first period, the team had a chance to turn around, but Butker missed the field goal, kicking the post.
The second quarter started with a beautiful touchdown. Hurts threw for 45 yards to AJ Brown to put the Eagles ahead again. The quarterback led yet another campaign that looked promising, until he made a big mistake. He fumbled in midfield, Bolton recovered the ball and ran into the end zone to level things up once more.
The mistake did not discourage the Eagles’ number 1, who returned to lead a campaign in which he ended with a touchdown.
With the Chiefs at a disadvantage, it was a tense moment for the team’s fans. Mahomes took a knock to his ankle, where he has been in pain for a few weeks, and left the field with a limp.
Before the break – and Rihanna’s show – The Eagles scored another field goal, heading into the locker room with a 24-14 lead.
Returning to the game, Mahomes was not only on the field again, but also had an excellent campaign, in which he ran and threw well, and ended with Pacheco’s touchdown, reducing the deficit to three points.
The gap rose to six points on a long play by Philadelphia, which ended with another field goal.
And the six-point lead quickly turned to an eight-point lead, with two touchdowns for the Chiefs. One of them with Toney, who, free, received the pass from Mahomes. And the other where he got a spectacular comeback and left the ball in great place for the quarterback to throw to Moore.
Nothing to stop Hurts from leading the tie campaign, with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
But there was still time on the clock. And the Chiefs got a field goal to go 38-35 and win the Super Bowl.
