Vegas. Patrick Mahomes passed for 262 yards and two touchdowns and the two-time NFL champion Chiefs remained undefeated by beating the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20 in Kansas City on Sunday.
The Chiefs (7-0) extended their winning streak to 13, taking into account the playoffs. Their last loss was at home against Las Vegas, but the Chiefs are 5-0 against the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium and 6-0 at that stadium, including the Super Bowl in February.
Las Vegas (2-6) has lost four straight, but this was the first time the Raiders scored at least 20 points since beating Cleveland 20-16 on Sept. 29.
Mahomes became the quarterback the fastest to reach 30,000 yards in NFL history, achieving it in his 103rd game. Matthew Stafford achieved that mark in 109 games.
Mahomes’ biggest target was Travis Kelce, who had 10 catches for 90 yards, both season highs. The last time he had double-digit receptions was on October 22, 2023 and this was his most yards since November 25 of last year.
Kelce also had a reception touchdownthe 75th in his career, passing Jason Witten for fifth among tight ends. Kelce is two away from breaking Tony González’s record with Kansas City.
Gardner Minshew completed 24 of 30 passes for 209 yards with two touchdowns for Las Vegas, but was sacked five times behind the line of scrimmage.
Saints lose six consecutive games
Ladd McConkey had two catches for touchdownincluding a 60-yard score in the third quarter to become the Chargers’ first rookie receiver in 11 years with 100 yards in a game in Los Angeles’ 26-8 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Justin Herbert totaled 328 yards (278 in the air and 48 on the ground) and two passes touchdown to help the Chargers (4-3) bounce back from last Monday’s last-second loss to Arizona.
The Saints (2-6) have lost six straight for the first time since 2005. Alvin Kamara, who signed a two-year, $24.5 million contract extension this week, had 122 yards. Chris Olave had eight receptions for 107 yards.
Jake Haener replaced an ineffective Spencer Rattler in the third quarter and completed nine of 17 passes for 122 yards.
Rattler — who started for the third straight game with Derek Carr out with an oblique injury — was 12 of 24 for 156 yards.
