“Mahmoud Saeed’s Book on Mortada Mansour’s Insulting Case: Court Refuses to Hear Case Without Mansour’s Appearance”

Today, Tuesday, the Second Economic Criminal Chamber completed the trial of Mortada Mansour, accused of insulting and slandering Lamia Khairy, Director General of the Central Auditing Organization.

During the session, the court, headed by Counselor Badr Al-Sobky, refused to hear the case, requesting that Mortada Mansour appear in person before the court.

The investigative authorities had referred Mortada Mansour to the Criminal Court, in Case No. 113 of 2023 Financial Income, registered with No. 179 of 2022 Administrative Agouza, on charges of assaulting an employee of the Central Auditing Organization, Lamia Khairy.

A source familiar with the case said that the case is being considered before economic crimes, because it is against a public official.

The Court of Cassation had ruled to uphold the two rulings issued against Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek Club, with one month’s imprisonment enforceable, and one year’s imprisonment suspended, for accusing him of insulting and slandering Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly Club, by rejecting the two appeals submitted by him against the two rulings.

The concerned authorities released Mortada Mansour after serving a one-month prison sentence in Wadi al-Natrun prison.
