Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas asked French President Emmanuel Macron to stop Israeli attacks as they fight Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The two met in Ramallah, West Bank Palestine.
“We urge you, President Macron, to stop this aggression,” Abbas was reported as saying AFPWednesday (25/10/2023).
Mahmoud strongly condemned Israeli air strikes which he said killed innocent civilians in a barbaric way. Mahmoud said Israel and its supporting countries were responsible for the conflict.

Later, Macron told reporters that nothing could justify the suffering of civilians in the Palestinian territories since the October 7 attack on Israel.
Earlier in Jerusalem, Macron defended Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas ‘terrorism’.
“There will be no sustainable peace if there is no recognition of the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to territory and property rights,” Macron said.
“There will be no sustainable peace if there is no clear recognition by the Palestinian people and their authority of the state of Israel and the importance of its existence and security,” he added.
