Mahfud’s instruction to the Police to investigate Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim for making a fuss

Jakarta

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md mention statement Reverend Saifuddin Ibrahim who asked the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) to delete 300 verses of the Qur’an has caused a commotion among the people. The police have moved to investigate the matter.

“Oops, it made a lot of noise, that’s why I made a lot of people angry. Therefore, I ask the police to investigate it immediately and if possible, close the account because reportedly it hasn’t been closed until now,” said Mahfud, Wednesday (16/3). .

This was conveyed by Mahfud via the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs YouTube in a video entitled ‘The Response of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs regarding Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim’ which was uploaded on Wednesday (16/3/2022) afternoon. Mahfud said what Saifuddin said was disturbing.

“So it’s disturbing and a provocation to pit people against each other,” he explained.

Mahfud then mentioned that Law Number 1 of 1965 concerning the Prevention of Abuse and/or Blasphemy of Religion had been updated to Law No. 5 of 1969. He said the law could be used as the basis for processing Saifuddin because in the main teachings of Islam, the verse of the Qur’an ‘an as much as 6,666, nothing should be reduced.

“I remind you that Law No. 5/1969 which was updated from the PNPS Law No. 1/1965 which was made by Bung Karno regarding blasphemy of religion threatens to be punished without playing games, more than 5 years in prison, namely anyone who makes interpretations or provokes the interpretation of a religion that violates the law. out of the main interpretation. The main teaching in Islam is the Qur’an, which has 6666 verses, it cannot be reduced how much is ordered to withdraw the 3,000 or 300,” he said.

Mahfud said reducing the verses of the Qur’an is the same as committing blasphemy against Islam. Mahfud said that different opinions were not a problem, as long as the opinions expressed did not cause a commotion.

“300 for example, it means blasphemy against Islam. Moreover, saying that it is said that the Prophet Muhammad dreamed of meeting Allah and so on, deviates from the main teachings,” he said.

“We can have different opinions, but don’t cause a commotion. That’s why in the past, because in the past, Bung Karno made PPNS No. 1/65 which threatened not to beat up people who blaspheme religion but to take them to court. This is what society has started now. think who this person is, don’t, take it to court,” he continued.

Furthermore, Mahfud said that the contents of Law No. 1/1965 on the Prevention of Abuse and/or Blasphemy of Religion are correct, only the sentence needs to be updated. Until now the law, said Mahfud, is still valid.

“When I became a 2010 Constitutional Court judge, I stated that when I was tested in the Constitutional Court, this law was true, only the sentences were to be updated by the DPR. Until now it has not been updated, meaning it is still valid. Let’s maintain the harmony of our religious communities. We are not will ban people from speaking but don’t provoke sensitive matters,” he added.
