Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md said the findings of Komnas HAM’s investigation report are related The Kanjuruhan tragedy more detailed than the results of the Joint Independent Fact-Finding Team (TGIPF). He then talked about the possibility of adding new suspects to the Kanjuruhan tragedy from Komnas HAM’s report.
“The others are almost the same, but Komnas HAM is more detailed and the data is more complete than ours, but the substance is almost the same,” Mahfud said in a press conference at the office of the Ministry for Policy Coordination. Laws and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday (3/11/2022).
“Now we have six (suspects), if we add Komnas HAM, it can be eight, it can be 10. We’ll check it out later, too,” he continued.
Mahfud previously said that no party had been suspected of being involved in the turmoil of a football match. This is different from the Kanjuruhan tragedy which ultimately led to six suspects.
“Now everyone is being investigated by the police, right? In the past no one has ever been punished for it, now they have been punished,” Mahfud said.
Earlier, it was known that Komnas HAM had submitted to the government a report on the results of the investigation into the Kanjuruhan tragedy through Mahfud Md. The results of this investigation will be used to take further steps regarding the Kanjuruhan tragedy.
It will take several further steps. The phases consist of short, medium and long term.
“In the short term, it could be law enforcement and administrative actions, in the medium term, organizational restructuring (and) in the long term, the completion of soft and hard infrastructure,” Mahfud said.
“The subtle thing is the best organizational rules coupled with a clear physical infrastructure, yes,” he continued.
