The video purportedly contains a conversation between South Jakarta (PN) District Court Chief Justice Wahyu Iman Santoso regarding the case that ensnared the former Propam Division Chief Freddy Sambo viral. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md suspects the video is an attempt to terrorize the judge.
Initially, Mahfud said the video should be investigated by the Supreme Court (MA) because it is related to alleged ethics violations. Mahfud then said that there were two possibilities for distributing the video.
“Firstly, it needs to be investigated. It could be an ethical violation if it actually happened. Secondly, it is also possible that the video was cut from a series of conversations in order to make a certain impression,” said Mahfud to detik comFriday (6/1/2022).
Mahfud suspected that the video was part of the terror so that the judges would not dare to hand down a heavy sentence on Sambo. He said logically, Judge Wahyu doubted giving Sambo a heavy sentence due to the existence of the video prior to the verdict.
“Meanwhile, I suspect the video is part of an effort to scare judges so they don’t dare to give Sambo a harsh sentence. Logically, it leaves judges hesitant to sentence Sambo because they are concerned that the verdict will be judged as the outcome of a conspiracy because it’s the same as the video that went viral earlier,” he said.
Mahfud conveyed that the suspicion was not without reason. He claimed to have experienced terror when he was Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK). At the time, Mahfud was terrified three days before the verdict on the regional elections for the governor of the Moluccas.
“I often experienced the same thing. When I was Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, while I was processing the case for the election of the governor of North Maluku, which was sued by Ole Gafur, at that moment I experienced terror. Three days before the verdict circulated, news emerged that Chief Justice Mahfud Md had been summoned by President SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) so that Gafur’s case would be dismissed,” Mahfud said.
Even so, Mahfud still sentenced Gafur, who was the plaintiff, to lose. Mahfud admitted that he never discussed the matter with SBY at the time.
“I know it’s terror, so I don’t dare to beat Gafur. But I don’t care, Gafur still loses in the Constitutional Court. Wong, I have never discussed anything with President SBY, because you are accused of conspiracy with SBY,” he said .
For your information, Judge Wahyu is the Chief Judge in the premeditated murder case of Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat, in which one of the defendants is the former head of the Propam Polri Division, Ferdy Sambo. In the video, someone narrated as Wahyu appears to be wearing a batik shirt and gray pants.
He was sitting on the sofa and picked up the phone. In the narration accompanying the video, Wahyu is said to be arguing with a woman in front of him. However, the figure of the woman is unknown.
In the video, the person referred to as Judge Wahyu said he didn’t need a confession from Ferdy Sambo.
“No, the problem is, it really didn’t make sense. He fired Joshua’s gun. But that’s okay, it’s legal. I’m not going to pressure him to confess, I don’t need confessions,” she said. the man suspected of being Judge Wahyu.
“I don’t need acknowledgment. We can judge for ourselves. Go ahead and say I want to do it that way. Yesterday my mouth was actually itchy, but I let it go,” the man said.
