Mahfud MD was not present at the inauguration of President and Vice President Prabowo-Gibran

JAKARTA – Mahfoud MD did not attend installation of president and vice president RI, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) had to visit his mother in Surabaya, East Java.

This was known from Mahfud MD’s tweet through his personal X account, Sunday morning (20/10/2024).

“In the morning I was supposed to be ready to go to the MPR Building to attend the Presidential Address. But suddenly I had to visit my mother in Surabaya. . My mother is 94 years old, I hope Allah SWT makes her healthy,” wrote Mahfud MD.

For your information, the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President will be held this Sunday (20/10/2024), at Nusantara Building, Parliament Center, Senayan, South Jakarta.

Prabowo and Gibran were named President and Vice President after winning the presidential election (Pilpres) in February 2024. The couple supported by the Indonesian Progressive Alliance (KIM) won 96,214,691 votes or 58.6% of the 164,227,475 valid votes.

Prabowo-Gibran defeated two other candidates, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar who received 40,971,906 or 24.9% of the vote and the pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD who received 27,040,878 or 16.5%. Based on the results of the Presidential Election, the General Election Commission (KPU) appointed Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice-President Elect through order No. 504 of 2024 regarding the Determination of Candidate Pairs President and Vice President in Election 2024. .

The inauguration of the president and vice president is expected to be led by the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani. The chairman of the MPR leads the swearing in and then the exchange of chairs between the former president and the new president and vice president.
