Vice presidential candidate number 3 Mahfud Md open your voice regarding the position he will take in the end 2024 Election. Mahfud said whatever the results of the 2024 presidential election, he would continue to fight for democracy and justice.
“I’ve been on break for the last four days, so lots of journalists have contacted me and what I want. Brother, what do I want? Whatever the outcome of this presidential election, I will continue to fight for democracy and justice,” said Mahfud to journalists at FKUI, Salemba, Jakarta. Center, Saturday (17/2/2024).
Mahfud said that fighting for democracy is not only done through elections. He said elections were only an expression of democracy.
“The path to the struggle for democracy and justice is not just elections. Elections are only an expression of democracy,” he said.
Mahfud then revealed that he did not hold any position in 2014-2016. However, at that time he was still actively fighting for democracy and the rule of law.
“I was not in any position from 2014 to 2016, but was still productive in fighting for democracy and law enforcement,” he said.
Furthermore, the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said that the civil society movement from campuses was also a source of the democratic movement. Mahfud said that democracy will always pave its own way.
“The civil society movement and campuses are the source of the democratic movement and change from authoritarianism to democracy. History teaches that if democracy is blocked, then democracy will always make its own way. This is our history and the history of the world,” he said.
