Mahfud Md Plans to Resign from Cabinet: Jokowi and Ministers Respond

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud Md who plans to resign from the Cabinet received a response from Minister President Joko Widodo or Jokowi others.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that removing ministerial positions was the president’s prerogative.

Previously, at the Prof. Collision event in Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday evening, January 23 2024, Mahfud, who is also vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 3, stated that he would resign as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in Jokowi’s Cabinet at the right time.

According to him, the resignation will be carried out amicably so that there is no conflict. The withdrawal option has been discussed with presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo.

“I believe he had good intentions for the people when he appointed me as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and I helped him,” said Mahfud.

He is also willing to accompany Ganjar to advance to the 2024 presidential election because he believes that the former Governor of Central Java is a pro-people leader.
