jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD responded to the polemic of the DKI Jakarta Governor’s plan Anies Baswedan implementing large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in total in the capital city.
The polemic was getting louder because a number of ministers also expressed opinions that seemed to contradict Anies Baswedan’s plan.
Mahfud MD. said that the problems surrounding the Jakarta PSBB were due to mistakes in grammar, not a matter of state administration.
“Because this is a word system, not a state system. The result is chaotic like that,” said Mahfud in an online 6-month evaluation and 1-year projection for handling Covid-19 in Indonesia, Saturday (12/9) night.
From the start, said Mahfud, the central government knew that the status of DKI Jakarta would apply the PSBB.
However, it was as if Jakarta had ‘pulled the emergency brake’ which was a problem.
“The government knows that Jakarta must have the PSBB and it has never been revoked. The PSBB has been given, yes, it has done it. The problem is that Jakarta is not the PSBB, but what Pak Qodari (Indobaremeter Executive Director) said is the emergency brake,” Mahfud said.
Mahfud said that the PSBB has become a regional authority. However, policy changes can be applied within a certain range.
