Mahfud Md encourages case investigation rape Kemenkop officials continued.

Mahfud’s focus on rape cases officer This was conveyed to journalists at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) office, Jakarta, Friday (20/1/2023). Mahfud criticized the restorative justice method that had been used to handle this case. Even though criminal cases of rape like this cannot be reconciled, they must be prosecuted by law.

“Moreover, restorative justice is pursued by one of the criminals being told to marry the victim, then given money, then never treated as a wife,” said Mahfud.

Previously, the lawyer for the rape victim also stated the same thing. Later, the husband filed for divorce.

“The marriage certificate was taken away,” said Mahfud.

Mahfud reiterated the rape incident. There were four men who raped a woman, all of them were Kemenkop employees. The victim was raped in a helpless state.

“Someone did it more than once, witnessed by two other employees while smiling. This cannot be treated as restorative justice,” said Mahfud.

At present, the investigators of the case have been examined by the West Java Police Profession and Security (Propam Polda Jabar). On the other hand, the investigation will restart by first holding a special case by the West Java Regional Police.

Regarding the marriage of the victim and the perpetrator, this incident occurred after the sexual violence took place on 19-20 December 2019.

On March 13, 2020, the marriage of the victim with the initials N to one of the perpetrators with the initials ZP was held at the Cilandak KUA, South Jakarta. Furthermore, the investigation was stopped by the Bogor Police through the issuance of an investigation termination warrant (SP3).

The government then held a meeting consisting of Bareskrim Polri, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs on November 21 2022 and the result rejected the SP3 case. The latest development, the Bogor District Court granted the pretrial lawsuit, the SP3 is valid and the status of suspects for the three people in the case was dropped.
