Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud Md asked for security April 11 demonstration without violence. The All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) hopes that Mahfud’s statement will materialize so that the April 11 action will run smoothly.
“In line with us, for the mass action, we want security and mutual comfort from the authorities and others,” said BEM SI Media Coordinator, Luthfi Yufrizal, said briefly, Saturday (9/4/2022).
He also hoped that the police would not do excessive things when securing the April 11 action.
It is planned that this April 11 demonstration will be delivered by the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI). BEM SI said the demonstration would be held because they considered that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was not serious about rejecting the discourse of a 3-term office.
“Date 11 April 2022, we will protest. That is the moment 14 days after the time we gave to the President to answer the six demands we gave, March 28, 2022,” said BEM Central Coordinator SI Kaharuddin to detik.comThursday (7/4).
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md said that there was no prohibition against people wishing to express their aspirations through demonstrations, including on April 11. He asked for the demonstration to be carried out in an orderly manner.
He said the government had coordinated with security forces and law enforcement. Mahfud asked the officers in charge of securing the course of the action not to use violence and not to carry live ammunition.
“In dealing with the planned demonstration, the government has coordinated with security forces and law enforcement, in order to provide the best possible service and security, and there should be no violence, no live ammunition, nor should it be provoked by provocations,” said Mahfud.
