KUALA LUMPUR, KOMPAS.com – Mahathir Mohamad | stated, Anwar Ibrahim could just be Prime Minister of Malaysia if the coalition Pakatan Harapan still support it.
In a blog post titled “Prime Minister”, Mahathir said he should have the support of 158 MPs.
The claim was made after Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah met 222 lawmakers following the “Sheraton Movement” in February.

If only the 158 support is maintained, then Pakatan Harapan will still be in power, where Anwar Ibrahim will be PM Malaysia after Mahathir withdrew.
However, according to the politician with the nickname Dr M, 92 votes from the People’s Justice Party (PKR), Amanah, and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) moved closer to Anwar.
As a result, Mahathir Mohamad only got 66 votes. “So I also lost. The same goes for Anwar,” said Mahathir.
Reported The Edge Markets On Saturday (21/11/2020), Mahathir described what the “Sheraton Movement” is that is the forerunner of Malaysia’s future political crisis.
In his speech, two Pakatan Harapan politicians, Muhyiddin Yassin and Azmin Ali, met with UMNO and PAS opposition leaders at the Sheraton Hotel.
During the meeting, Muhyiddin brought the wagon of the United Party and Azmin included his supporters in the new alliance, the National Alliance.

Because of that, Dr M chose to resign. He denied reports that his resignation had something to do with Pakatan’s wish to appoint Anwar.
“With Bersatu and Azmin Ali leaving PKR, then Pakatan Harapan is no longer in power. Similarly, I am no longer the PM of Malaysia,” he said.
He claimed that after 92 votes failed to lift Anwar, Pakatan approached him with plans to form another government.
At that time, Anwar also gave approval, on the condition that he be appointed Deputy PM, to remove his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
But, Mahathir rejected it on the grounds that he wanted to defend the cabinet he pioneered when he won with Pakatan in 2018.

Anwar then agreed. Preparations for a return to power began as they approached Sabah politicians.
If they have Sabah’s support, they can get 114 votes. Unfortunately, Muhyiddin Yassin had the blessing of the King of Malaysia and was appointed in March.
Pakatan who clearly did not give up on trying to build a re-scenario by returning to join hands with Mahathir Mohamad.
At that time, the 95-year-old former PM will hold office for six months and then hand it over to Anwar.
“But Anwar refused. Anwar does not want me to be involved again. But if I am not involved, my supporters will not support Pakatan’s plan,” Mahathir said.

Another way to defeat Muhyiddin is to defeat Muhyiddin Yassin in the debate when the House of Representatives convenes again, where the opposition has 114 votes.
“But what happened was that Muhyiddin still maintained his superiority of 112 votes during the debate over the Speaker of the Parliament. This means he will become PM, not Anwar,” Mahathir explained.
Then in September, Anwar Ibrahim surprisingly announced a majority to overthrow Muhyiddin’s government.
However, Mahathir sarcastically stated that Anwar still could not be PM. “His statement is completely untrue.”
