The governor of Maguindanao del Norte, Abduraof Macacua, has appealed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to appoint eight members to the province’s legislature to enable it to function. Macacua has called on officials from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to accelerate the appointment process. The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has yet to be created, meaning there are no government employees within the new province. To transfer the National Tax Allocation (NTA) share of Maguindanao del Norte to the provincial government, permitted by the creation of a bank account, the new provincial board must be appointed as soon as possible, according to BARMM Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo. In order to recommend appointment the Maguindanao del Norte governor and vice governor, alongside the province’s Lower House representative, must suggest members for appointment.
