In the town of Magnuszew in Kozienice County, a 42-year-old driver of a Ford, under the influence of alcohol, hit pedestrians. Two people died at the scene, a third died in hospital. Two people are hospitalized. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated. The police reported that the 42-year-old had previously been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol.
As reported on Sunday by Asp. Marcin Sawicki from the press team of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Radom, the accident occurred on Saturday evening in the town of Magnuszew in Kozienice County, where a Ford driven by a 42-year-old man drove into two groups of pedestrians, five people in total. They were walking on the hard shoulder, where there is no sidewalk.
– As a result of this incident, three people died. A woman and a man, both 36 years old, died at the scene. A 55-year-old woman died in hospital. The injured, a 55-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, were also taken to hospital – said asp. Sawicki.
Police: the driver was drunk
As he emphasized, the 42-year-old driver of the Ford was detained. – The first sobriety test showed that he had 1.5 per mille of alcohol – he added. He is currently in police custody. He will be questioned after sobering up.
– Initial findings indicate that the 42-year-old had previously been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. In 2010, his driving license was suspended for this reason – said Asp. Marcin Sawicki.
