Magnus Eriksson Apologizes to Gais After Return to Starting Eleven

Magnus Eriksson was back in the starting eleven after the departure of Pontus Jansson.

After they returned, he apologized to Gais.

– It felt right, said the Djurgården team captain.

After Malmö FF’s overtime win against Djurgården on Thursday, Pontus Jansson picked up Magnus Eriksson’s sack.

– I heard that their coach was also grumpy after the game. After they treated Mange Eriksson, it really makes me a little bit happy, he said.

Against Gais, Eriksson was back in the starting eleven for the first time this season, but he does not want to talk about the effect of Pontus Jansson.

– Haha no. We talk a lot and “Ponne” is a nice gentleman. I saw him resting today until we hit a bit on Wednesday.

What do you think of what he said?

– That must be up to him. We have a good relationship and he obviously said nice words, so I was happy about that. I fight on and do my part.

Eriksson continues:

– I don’t think “Ponne” is registered on everything. I think he is seeing the playing time and I have not been replaced. That’s great and he said, but me and the coaching staff know the whys and wherefores, and we’ll keep it there.

I got into a discussion about the playground

Djurgården won the match against Gais 1-0 after Deniz Hümmet’s goal in the second half. After the final whistle, several Zoo players ended up in an argument on the pitch.

– If we don’t get it working and absolutely right, we should be able to hide the ball a little better and risk the ball in less dangerous areas. We give away too many balls at the end of the game. I think it was me and Albin (Ekdal) and Besard (Sabovic) who talked about it, says Eriksson.

However, Gais was so impressed with the Djurgården team captain that he went up to coach Fredrik Holmberg after the game and apologized after taking them to the bottom of the Allsvenskan opener.

– If I’m not completely out cycling, they had a very difficult time in the cup, the warm-up meeting came and I hate to find out the teams. But I apologized today because I think they play very nice football. It’s not a bad football team. It was right to apologize to him (Holmberg), says Eriksson.
