On Sunday, April 23, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 had occurred in Kepulauan Batu, Indonesia, at a depth of 43 kilometers (27 miles). The initial report from EMSC had estimated the earthquake to be of magnitude 5.8 and depth of 42 kilometers (26 miles).
