On May 21, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck off the coast of northern California.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km and at a distance of 108 km west of the community of Petrolia, which is home to about 1,000 people. There are no reports of damage or casualties.
It is noted that the earthquake of magnitude 6.4 points, which struck Northern California in December 2022 and occurred only 5 km from the coast, claimed the lives of two people, dozens were injured.
