The bright minds of the American Massachusetts Institute of Technology, better known as MIT, come to the rescue! Because they expect there to be a worldwide shortage of respirators, they have developed an emergency solution!
They expect that in the United States alone, there will be a shortage of such equipment of between 300,000 and 700,000. These things are not cheap and demand has of course exploded worldwide. So that this is a real problem does not really need to be emphasized anymore. But what is the solution then? Do it yourself emergency respirator!
They looked at what such a device should be able to do in order to be effective. It took a lot of work and they all explain it step by step: complete transparency. They also invite you to contribute knowledge and insights, absolutely great!
They make clear (and must be) time and again that this should be seen purely as an emergency solution. Despite the fact that their contribution is a cold and technical story, it is still heartwarming. This is the power of open source internet. The thing may look like a beun device, but as long as it saves lives you won’t hear me complaining! Or do you prefer a coronalied, sung by a hundred BN’ers? That’s what I thought.
