A forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for 30 September – 2 October 2024 published US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Forecast Center.
Geomagnetic storms are classified according to power level – K index – from 2 to 9. The higher the K index, the stronger the storm and the impact it has on people and equipment.
Monday 30 Septembersolar activity is expected with a K index of 5 (red level), which corresponds to a magnetic storm. But, already on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 1 and 2activity drops to index K 3 (green level) – small magnetic disturbances.
Note that the forecast may still change, as solar activity researchers update their data every three hours.
