The 9th Piekary Night of Falling Stars is behind us. The event, to which Sława Umińska-Kajdan – the Mayor of the City and Natalia Ciupińska-Szoska – Chairwoman of the Education, Culture and Sports Committee of the City Council invited, once again attracted numerous Piekary residents and guests from nearby towns to the Kopiec Wyzwolenia. In addition to observing the Perseids, participants had the opportunity to listen to a fascinating lecture by Krzysztof Dwornik from the Silesian Planetarium and admire extraordinary astrophotography by Bartosz Wojczyński, and the youngest had the opportunity to take part in knowledge competitions about space and more. Dance groups from the Piekary “Azaria” and the Kahani Dance band performed on stage. The weather was good, allowing for full admiration of the stars. The impressions were unforgettable!

The 9th Piekary Falling Stars Night began at 8:00 p.m. in the area of the Mound of Liberation. The weather was good and the sky was free of clouds, so stargazing was very successful. The City of Piekary Śląskie prepared many attractions for all participants, including: a mobile planetarium, a presentation and lecture by Krzysztof Dwornik from the Silesian Planetarium in Chorzów, an astrophotography show by Bartosz Wojczyński, puzzles and competitions with prizes for children. In the area around the Mound, it was possible to use the catering zone. On the occasion of the 9th Piekary Falling Stars Night, the “Azaria” Majorettes performed for a large audience. The performance aroused great applause, as the girls presented interesting choreographic arrangements after dark with glow sticks. The Kahani Dance Group danced in the Indian style.

This year’s edition of the Night of the Fallen is under the patronage of Senator Halina Bieda and MP Łukasz Ściebiorowski. The co-organizer and initiator of the event is councilor Natalia Ciupińska-Szoska.

Thank you and see you again next year!
