However, this 21 year old youth, Andi Hilmi, did not.

Used cooking oil is used as raw material for biodiesel development. Every month, he is able to receive a turnover of Rp. 200 million.
Starting from the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM) which resulted in fishermen in Makassar being unable to go to sea, Andi began looking for a solution to replace fuel with biodiesel from used cooking oil.
“I am trying to find a substitute for renewable energy so that it can be used by fishermen. My principle is that the work we make must meet the needs at that time,” he said, quoted from the ESDM Ministry website, Saturday (17/4/2021)
It doesn’t stop with the fishermen, Andi keeps trying to expand his business net.
He also decided to join organizations such as the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI).

Andi really took advantage of this network after participating in various forums at national and international competitions.
In fact, not a few offer various forms of cooperation from these networks.
According to him, the business of processing used cooking oil into biodiesel still has many challenges, including processing technology and the process of collecting used cooking oil.
To collect oil supplies, Andi created an RT / RW used cooking oil bank with facilities such as check point and jerry cans.
With this he can integrate one city.

However, to create an ideal used cooking oil bank, it requires a lot of money.
Therefore Andi invites large companies to work together to create used cooking oil banks through the CSR program.
Until now, Andi has created garbage banks in around 20 schools, targeting 500 students, which means aiming at 500 households.
Another challenge from the technical side of biodiesel is the inherent characteristics of used cooking oil which will find it difficult to meet the high quality demands of biodiesel for B30.
To increase the supply of used cooking oil, Andi often educates the surrounding community. He invited people to save used cooking oil.
Later, the used cooking oil savings will be exchanged for new cooking oil and later get used to consuming healthy cooking oil.
Andi also educated fishermen who were initially reluctant to use biodiesel because the color was different from diesel, so they were worried that the boat would be damaged.
Andi ensured that in addition to being cheaper than diesel fuel, biodiesel would also not damage ship engines.
