Josh Okogie put Phoenix ahead with a 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter and prevented another by Paolo Banchero in the closing seconds, and the Suns held their own to beat the Orlando Magic 116-113 on Thursday and snapped a three-game skid.
Devin Booker led Phoenix with 19 points. Cameron Payne added 18 points to the team tally while Deandre Ayton and Chris Paul each made 16 and Okogie finished with 15. The Suns made all 17 free throws available to them in the entire game.
Markelle Fultz had 25 points, Banchero 18 and Cole Anthony 17 for Orlando. Franz Wagner had a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards and Wendell Carter Jr. also contributed 16 points.
Orlando trailed by 12 points in the second half before tying the score at 101-101 thanks to Wagner’s 3-pointer less than six minutes from the final buzzer.
After a Phoenix timeout, Okogie’s 3-pointer put the Suns ahead again. The Magic closed to 114-113 thanks to a pair of free throws by Fultz with 8.8 seconds left.
