AMC announces the upcoming arrival of a series centered on Negan and Maggie. We will go to New York in Isle of the Dead.
The universe of The Walking Dead is still far from having said its last word. As the original series comes to an end, AMC is not going to put its golden hen in the closet.
Last February, we learned that the American channel had recruited Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Anthony Awards for an anthology called Tales of The Walking Dead. But AMC is obviously not going to stop there and announces the development of another production inspired by Robert Kirkman’s comic books.
Through a press release, the American company gives some details about this new production. It will thus follow Negan and Maggie who set off to discover a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. The ruined city is filled with the dead and the inhabitants who have made New York an anarchic, dangerous, terrorizing world, but full of beauty.
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment at AMC Studios and AMC Network, welcomed the announcement.
“It’s a very big day for the expanding universe we’re building around The Walking Dead. We’re not only adding another gripping series to this collection, but also extending the storytelling around two unforgettable characters that fans have come to love or hate. It also allows us to explore a corner of this universe, located on Manhattan Island, with an iconic skyline that takes on a very different meaning when viewed through the lens of a zombie apocalypse.”
To direct this new zombie epic, AMC calls on a regular in the universe since it is Eli Jorné who is appointed as showrunner. After writing and co-producing episodes of the parent series, he now operates solo under the watchful eye of Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer. The Walking Dead Universe.

Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will find the characters they have been camping for years now, for our greatest happiness, and also theirs.

Not before 2023
As one might suspect, the project is still in the development stage, we should not be able to find out in the coming months. However, we will not have to wait very long since AMC is advancing a broadcast date in 2023. The channel specifies that the first season will consist of six episodes.
Whether the series will find favor in the public eye remains to be seen. The universe of The Walking Dead has not only successes to its credit, as evidenced by the rather mixed reception that the spin-off had World Beyond.
Broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, the series told the adventures of the descendants of the main characters of The Walking Dead, the first generation of a colony located in the shelter behind a fortress. Two seasons were produced.
