Madiun (ANTARA) – The Magetan District Health Office, East Java, anticipates the transmission of dengue fever, which is prone to occur during the rainy season by conducting fogging or fumigation in areas where there have been cases of such dangerous diseases.
“Entering the rainy season in November 2021, eight Magetan residents have contracted dengue fever,” said the officer for the Prevention and Control of Vector and Zoonotic Diseases, Magetan Health Office Adi Sunoto in Magetan, Saturday.
This number is possible to increase as we enter the peak of the rainy season which will take place in early 2022.
For this reason, his party carried out fumigation in a number of areas where there were recorded cases of transmission. One of them is in Posan Hamlet, Genengan Village, Kawedanan District, Magetan.
At least 120 houses in the hamlet were sprayed after one resident was infected with dengue fever and infected three other residents.
The fumigation is carried out with a radius of about 200 meters from the houses of residents with dengue fever.
Although it has beenfogging, his party asked residents not to rely solely on fumigation which can only kill adult mosquitoes that spread dengue virus.
Residents of Magetan Regency are expected to be diligent in eradicating mosquito nests to eradicate larvae that can develop into mosquitoes aedes aegypti.
Eradication of mosquito nests is carried out with a minimum of 3 M, namely regularly draining the bathroom tub, closing water places, and stockpiling used soil around the house which can become a place for puddles of rainwater as a breeding medium for Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes.
He added, in addition to draining bathroom tubs and puddles, mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus can also breed in shrubs and gardens.
Mutual cooperation in cleaning the environment and conducting PSN simultaneously is considered more effective in preventing the spread of dengue fever than fogging.
He hopes that Magetan residents care about the cleanliness of the environment around where they live. So that the spread of dengue fever can be prevented.
