Basketball live on MagentaSport: Thursday for the first time EuroLeague conference with Berlin and Munich / “We still have to talk about our performance” – Winning is no longer enough in Bonn
Munich (ots) The top 3 of the easyCredit BBL march cheerfully at the beginning of the year: Telekom Baskets Bonn defends the leadership after 101:92 in Ulm and Karsten Tadda documents that the people of Bonn are not only in first place after the main round of this season.
“We have to go back to talking about our performance”, muttered Tadda, losing the “focus” of his Bonn in some phases: “We cannot be satisfied. We conceded 92 points to Ulm. It is absolutely not our identity”. Berlin starts with a 99:74 against Frankfurt in a “top-level sports week”. On Thursday, ALBA will play against league leaders Baskonia from 18:45. Then on Sunday the German basketball classic: from 5.30 pm ALBA will be a guest of Bayern. The Munich team won 78:65 in Rostock, receiving Panathinaikos Athens in the EuroLeague from 20:15. For the first time this season, MagentaSport offers Thursday 5 EuroLeague games in conference with both German teams. It starts at 18:30
Below are rumors and clips from the beginning of the BBL year at MagentaSport. On Wednesday the BBL continues from 18.45 with the Franconian derby Würzburg vs Bamberg, on Thursday the conference with the two German clubs from 18.30 and on Sunday the direct duel between FC Bayern and ALBA Berlin – from 17.30. All live at MagentaSport.
ALBA Berlin – FRAPORT Skyliners 99:74
The Berliners, without Luke Sikma and other regulars, needed a half-time run-up for a sovereign success. Tim Schneider achieved his best BBL result with 22 points. “So we carried the ball well forward. Not as well as with Luke. But it was a solid game from us.”
Schneider’s prospects for a “sports week” – Thursday against EuroLeague leaders Baskonia, Sunday at Bayern Munich: “We have a very good start to 2023. Little training, which is good for us. Of course we are looking forward to them these top level players and I want to take advantage of the victory in Lyon.”

Portrait of Luke Sikma, whose contract with ALBA is about to expire! Coming up as a caddy on the PGA Tour?
He rarely winces on the pitch, privately Luke Sikma is a person who sometimes enjoys himself. “We want to have fun,” he says of his team ALBA, which he has been part of since 2017, has won 3 championships and appreciates Berlin for its international environment. The future of the 33-year-old, also in Berlin, still seems unclear. The contract with ALBA expires this year. “I can’t say how much longer I will play basketball, I hope for a few more years. After that I would like to work as a coach. My father was also a player first and then a coach. But maybe I don’t know. I don’t want to play basketball anymore for the moment, keep the game plan”. Luke Sikma laughs: “Maybe I’ll go on a PGA tour as a caddy myself.”
MagentaSport introduces this boy to Luke Sikma, whose father Jake, an NBA star, became NBA champion and Allstar in Seattle. A legend and therefore also a role model for Luke. “Dad” never put any pressure on him and his career as a basketball player. “I got more pressure from other kids than from my father. I’m grateful to him for that,” says Luke Sikma, who, as a basketball professional, was a key figure at ALBA Berlin for 5 years through a series of stations in Spain. The portrait is taken as part of the EuroLeague conference at MagentaSport on Thursday.
ratiopharm Ulm – Telekom Baskets Bonn 92:101
Sixth consecutive victory, but Bonn doesn’t just want to win, the Telekom Baskets want to play excellent basketball. At least from Ulmer, currently twelfth, there was no shortage of praise. “We have to go back to talking about our performance”, Karsten Tadda, with a respectable 17 points, missed the “focus” of his Bonn team in some phases: “We cannot be satisfied. We conceded Ulm 92 points. It is absolutely not our identity”.
“By the way here now,” Karim Jallow muttered. The man from Ulm could not enjoy his new throwing record of 28 points: “The people of Ulm have 17 or 18 more chances because they went on the attack like crazy on every rebound. We couldn’t bag them. We have Bonn too many easy points calmly”.

Rostock Seawolves – Bayern Munich 65:78
5,000 spectators watch FC Bayern’s first duel in Rostock. Monaco played concentrated and strong in attack until just before the end. Then, ahead of a tough rest of the week against Athens and Berlin, “they allow a lot of open shots”, as Niklas Wimberg thinks. Monaco only traveled to Rostock for Tuesday’s game but then hit 9 of 15 three-point attempts. “It was a bit strange arriving on match day. But it worked out. The holiday period helped us.” Wimberg’s point of view for the next two games: “We moved the ball well and quickly. We always found the free man. We should stick to that.”
