Magdy Ahmed Ali to Bring Baligh Hamdi’s Life Story to the Screen in “Meddah of the Moon”

Said Yassin (Cairo)
This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the departure of musician Baligh Hamdi, who died on September 12, 1993. On this occasion, director Magdy Ahmed Ali seeks to bring out the series “Meddah of the Moon”, which deals with the story of Baligh’s life, in appreciation of his journey during which he enriched the art scene with hundreds of timeless melodies.
Magdy said that he had come a long way to implement the work ready for filming years ago, and revealed the artist Iyad Nassar’s enthusiasm to embody the character, and that he had taken training courses to play the oud and sing, to be able to do them.

One of the production agencies expressed its willingness to implement the work written by the late Muhammad Al-Rifai more than 15 years ago, and he obtained all regulatory approvals. Arab countries.
Dramatic material and events were collected from Saad El-Din Morsi, Baligh’s brother, and some of his cohabitants, including Abdel-Rahman El-Abnudi, Salah Aram, Wajdi El-Hakim, Mayada El-Hinnawi, and Warda, who was associated with him for many years.
And the director of the work explained that Baligh was kneaded with extraordinary talent, explosive with feeling and flow, and the series is one of my dreams because it tells the biography of an exceptional personality, and apart from what he achieved as a musician, he is considered, in my opinion, an epic, controversial personality, and his biography is full of dramatic details.
A large number of artists were nominated for the “Praise of the Moon” championship, but the production authorities did not receive the approval.
Baligh (1931-1993) is considered one of the most famous Arab musicians, as he composed music for Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim, Shadia, Warda, Najat, Sabah, Faiza, Muharram Fouad, Mayada Al-Hanawi, and others.
He was the first to revive the musical theater in 1964 with the show “The Bride’s Dowry”, and his tunes bear the spirit of innovation, and were characterized by strong Egyptianness, and his imprint is still eternal on the Arab song scene.
