“I have not told anyone about it yet. It was probably the eighth grade of primary school. After school, my friend and I went to the perfumery. We were walking by one of the churches that stood on the main promenade in my native Legnica. A group of local drunks were sitting there and we got accosted. I don’t remember anymore, those were some classic, unrefined words. We were 14 years old. One of them threw an invective at us, and I yelled back. These gentlemen fell silent, and we went on “- said Magda Mołek.

As it turns out, the story ended much worse.

“A moment passes, someone pulls me by the arm, turns me and hits me with all my strength in the face. I am 14 years old, standing on the main promenade, in a city full of people, there is an afternoon, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. and nothing is happening. This man walks away in silence, and I remember that he was one of those people who sat there (…). I was standing alone with that searing cheek “- said Magda Mołek.

Magda Mołek on the fight against objectification by women

Magda Mołek admitted that she did not tell her parents about this unpleasant event for a long time.

Imagine how he could mark this type of behavior forever by someone who did not have the support at home like me. And I had and was still afraid to say something like that. I was ashamed” – the journalist recalled.

Finally, she added that women have to fight against rude harassment and not let themselves be objectified.

“The research is clear: there is a particular group of men who believe that a woman is an object. (…) This is a cultural code, so it is so important to change the narrative. Women must be changed and told to be solidarity ” – He stressed.
