Magazine – Fleeting Wirecard board member Marsalek is said to have deceived auditors with actors

The fleeting ex-Wirecard manager Marsalek has apparently deceived the auditors of Ernst & Young after research by the “Manager-Magazin” with actors.

The magazine reportedthat Marsalek went even further than previously known. Accordingly, the top of Ernst & Young now assumes that Marsalek has hired actors who played bank employees. He is also said to have set up backdrops to pretend that they were bank branches. The case also puts pressure on the consultants who were involved at Ernst & Young. According to the magazine, there was “severe turbulence” internally.

Marsalek is fleeting and wanted

The scandal at the payment service provider Wirecard is about fake balance sheets. Marsalek himself is on the run and is wanted with a public search call by the Federal Criminal Police Office. The investigators suspect him, among other things, of the particularly serious case of breach of trust and commercial gang fraud. Together with other suspects such as the former Wirecard boss Markus Braun, he is said to have inflated the payment provider’s total assets and sales in order to make the company more attractive to investors and customers.

Wirecard is also excluded from the German share index due to the scandal – and replaced there by the food supplier Delivery Hero from Monday.
