Three friends of the couple have received an invitation from both Martijn and Nicole and therefore already know what the situation is. “We were really like, what do we do next?” they tell in front of the cameras of the program. Their intervention prevented the two MAFS participants from getting to know each other before the shooting.
In Ibiza, the girls, who call themselves the ‘Bossche Bopjes’, do everything to prevent the two from meeting. “We really thought from the start: We’re keeping it a secret. This is a day for Nicole and Martijn, and we gave them that day wholeheartedly. So absolutely secret.”
However, it didn’t really matter if their little secret got out first. Nicole’s last night and Martijn’s first come together in the same place. Since the new groom is tired from that evening’s journey, he decides to go home early. And so he narrowly misses Nicole. Also, a dinner party is canceled at the last minute to prevent the two from meeting.
But it doesn’t end there: the two also get lost in Holland. For example, the group of friends celebrates ADE together with Nicole, but without Martijn. And Nicole disappeared on a weekend camping trip. So lovebirds have more in common than you might think. “Nicole is definitely my type. I’m sure if I met her somewhere in the hospitality industry, I think I would have done my best. I already had faith in the science and this is confirmation for me that this is right” Martin said.
In the second episode we also meet the third couple: Maarten and Richelle. Tukker Maarten, 32, has his business in order. He has a nice house, good friends and a good relationship with his family. He just lacks a beautiful woman by his side. Maarten has deliberately not remained single all this time. He says he is “critical” and also suffers from separation anxiety due to his past. When he was sixteen, his father fell ill and contracted both ALS and Alzheimer’s. “It took a year and a half and it really impacted the lives of me, my mother and my brother,” he says. “And that actually bugged me to this day. He did something to me.”
Maarten is now looking for a “real lady” and the happy bride is Richelle, 30. She is also looking for an animal-tree-house. Only where, that’s the problem. Because both Richelle, who lives near Den Bosch, and Maarten, who lives in Enschede, really don’t want to leave their home. Richelle has been dating a lot lately, but she can’t seem to find the right person. Is Maarten the right one?
