Mafia: Definitive Edition special: The members of the Salieri family – With the release of Mafia: Definitive Edition, all Mafia games can be played on PlayStation 4. Everyone can undoubtedly remember Mafia III well and Mafia II is not exactly a very old game. The first Mafia, on the other hand, is from 2002. That game now has a remake and as you can see in our review the game is well worth it. The city is beautiful, the story is engaging, the gameplay is solid and the adventure as a whole is successful. But who is Mafia: Definitive Edition all about? We put the main characters who work for the Salieri family next to each other. Be aware that this article is slight spoilers contains.
Tommy Angelo
The young man Tommy has been working as a taxi driver for years and while it pays little for the time and effort he invests in it, he is content with his life. This is mainly due to the ‘Great Depression’, which was a worldwide economic crisis. This makes it difficult for many to find work and if you have a job, you should not complain. Not even Tommy, until he comes into contact with the Salieri family and slowly but surely he works his way up within the family, also because Sam and Paulie guarantee him. He proves to be loyal and after some time is on an equal footing with the other two persons mentioned. In his role he carries out the most intensive and dangerous assignments for the Don and although it gets difficult more than once, he always manages to save himself.
Sam Trapani
One of Don Salieri’s confidants who generally stays in the background, but is very important to the head of the family. Over time, Tommy becomes very good friends with him and they regularly go out for the Don. Sam presents himself as a rational mafiosi who, despite his approach, regularly ends up in dire situations. As Tommy throws himself in front of the lions more than once as a savior, their bond grows even stronger and, together with Paulie, they eventually form a trio that is called in for the most risky operations the Don has in store for them. Together with Paulie, however, he is already an established name in the family at the start of the game and therefore he is awe-inspiring, even among rival gangsters.
Paulie Lombardo
Of the whole Salieri family, Paulie is perhaps the most funny yet annoying. His high temperament regularly causes outbursts and it is always difficult to gauge whether he means it or not. Yet he is good at his job, because he is regularly sent out together with Sam to do important jobs. Like Sam, Paulie enjoys family status and rival gangsters also know they should leave him alone. As a result, Paulie has a somewhat more irrational ‘shit about everything’ mentality and that sometimes leads to funny situations. In terms of character Tommy is a bit in between Sam and Paulie, which makes the trio dynamic.
Frank Colletti
You won’t see too much of Mr Colletti, but he is of crucial importance to the Salieri family. As a somewhat older man, he is Don Salieri’s consiglieri. Apart from their business relationship, their history goes back very far. They have been friends since childhood, which is why Colletti is the ideal man for the administrative side of things. He manages the books, runs the legal affairs of the Salieri family and is also a financial advisor. He is mainly guided by nuance and a smart approach and although he is the quiet one in the background, Don Salieri places an extraordinary amount of confidence in him, whom he has known the longest of all. Colletti will be present at the most important meetings and advise, but otherwise mainly stays in the background.
Don Salieri
The history of Don Salieri is perhaps the most interesting. As an older man, he has of course been through a lot, and while he heads the family in Mafia: Definitive Edition, he hasn’t always been. Together with Don Morello they were the capos of the Peppone family in their younger years. However, Don Peppone was killed in a deal and to avoid hassle Salieri and Morello split the city in two for their own families. In the game, however, Don Salieri is no longer active in the business operations on an operational level. He manages his most important people, keeps the money flowing and looks for new business opportunities. To make all this a success, he has Tommy, Sam and Paulie as direct confidants who, with their loyalty, do everything for him. By nature he is a kind and respectable man who thinks calmly, but when he gets angry … then no one can be sure of his life.
Finally, you also have Ralph, the man in the garage who fixes up (stolen) cars and is responsible for the Don’s fleet. Vincenzo is the man in charge of the weapons, he can provide you with everything and more than once you visit his armory. Nor should we forget Sarah, but we leave out her role for newcomers.
