MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has received delegations of observers from Russia, Iran and Turkey, among others, who will follow the holding of parliamentary elections in the Caribbean country on December 6.

The images of the meeting were published on the president’s Twitter account.

“I thank you very much for making this effort to come” to observe “this very important election” and “live the history,” Maduro addressed the observers present at the event.

He stated that Sunday’s election “is not only a national event” but a “global one.”

“Everything that happens, everything that we declare tomorrow is going to have a worldwide repercussion,” Maduro said.

This same Saturday, the Venezuelan president met with observers from Africa, and the day before, with the delegations of Latin American and Caribbean countries.

In the elections of December 6, more than 20 million citizens of Venezuela are registered to vote for the 277 parliamentarians who will lead the National Assembly (unicameral parliament) for the period 2021-2026.
