“One year after the vaccination process, today we have reached the goal of 102% points, 102.6%, to be more exact, of vaccination, in the first and second, complete doses. Venezuela has vaccinated its entire population”, were the words of Maduro during a meeting with ministers broadcast by the state channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) last Wednesday.
Likewise, he indicated that in the South American country they reached 56% of children and young people, between two and 17 years of age, vaccinated against covid-19.
“We have reached 56% among children and young people from two years to 17. (Un) 56%, we are heading for 100%,” said the national president, who asked parents and representatives to take their children to the centers enabled for inoculation in schools, hospitals and universities across the country.
Nevertheless, Data from the World Health Organization, updated as of February 18, show that 14,966,671 Venezuelan citizens have been vaccinated with two doses of the covid-19 vaccine, which is equivalent to 49.8% of people with the guideline complete.
Maduro assured that the vaccination figure indicated by his Government is thanks to the allied countries that have supported his Government in obtaining the necessary doses.
“Thanks to China, thanks to Russia, thanks to Cuba, the people of Venezuela have their complete vaccines and we have vaccines for all of 2022 and beyond.to guarantee the health of our people”, highlighted the Venezuelan president.
The president pointed out that, despite the blockade that Venezuela is experiencing, “they could not sabotage the vaccination process” and that his government achieved “more than 100% of the population with a full dose”, thanks to the union of the vaccines donated by allies and the that they could buy “by giving birth to silver (money)”.
“They say that in Venezuela there is a dictatorship, but in Venezuela the president calls on the people to get vaccinated and 100% of the people are vaccinated… Here nothing is imposed on anyone, whoever wants to be vaccinated has the vaccine there, for free” , he added.
